What started as a way to keep busy and stay out of trouble became the foundation for a remarkable 40+ year career spanning the entire evolution of modern computing. From installing motherboards and floppy drives in 1983 to designing enterprise-grade cybersecurity solutions today, John has been there for every milestone DOS, Windows 3.1, networking infrastructure, server management, and now cloud security and compliance frameworks like CMMC 2.0.
From Assembling Computers to Building Businesses
Those early years were formative. Young John would carefully install 10MB hard drives (yes, megabytes), processors, and power supplies, then watch as technicians loaded DOS onto each machine. As he grew, so did his responsibilities installing Windows for Workgroups, troubleshooting repairs, shadowing senior engineers to learn server architecture and network design.
By the time his father retired and sold the business in 2001, John had accumulated two decades of hands-on experience. Rather than join another company, he took a leap of faith and founded Independent Network Consultants (INC) in June 2001.
The mission was clear: bring that same level of dedication, expertise, and personal service his father’s business was known for but with a modern focus on security, reliability, and building cyber-resilient businesses.
